layerNamer - for After Effects
layerNamer is a single-button script for renaming your layers in a variety of ways. Select your layers and quickly rename them, with numbers, by letter characters, or by effect.
Run the “layerNamer.jsxbin” using KBar or as a dockable panel.
By default (no modifier keys pressed):
The script will ask for a name, then name each selected layer with a number following it in the order they were selected. Great for creating repetitive lists of layers.
Hold Shift:
“Power Mode” The script will ask for a new name for each selected layer in quick succession.
Hold Alt/Option:
The script will ask for a name, then assign each letter in that name to the selected layers.
Hold Ctrl/Cmd:
The script will check if any of the selected layers has only a single effect, and name the layer based on the effect. Great for adjustment layers or plug-ins like Particular or Form. This will only work on layers with a single effect, any more and the layer will be skipped.
